What Was It I Was Looking For

 

What was it I was looking for, the day you caught my eye?
Was it just an emptiness that caused my soul to cry?

What was it then that made me feel, true love was just a myth?
That somehow I was far beyond the need for loving kiss.

I wasn't looking for romance, no one for whom I'd miss.
To lose a heart to someone else was never on my list.

What is it now that binds my heart? My world is upside down.
I never know which way to go, confusion now abounds.

With love I write to you my friend, to tell you how I feel.
With lust I think of you my love it's yours to ever steal.

I dream of holding you my sweet with loving arms so tight.
I think of making love to you each morning, noon, and night.

I see your face each time I wake and when I go to sleep.
I see your eyes and loving smile as days stretch into weeks.

All these years have come and gone, it seems so long ago.
But, my love, I feel the same, my heart is still aglow.

I wish I could convey to you the true love I possess.
The wonder of my loving touch, your beauty to caress.

Why is it that it's only you that keeps my heart confused?
What is this hold you have on me, my heart and soul are fused.

Yes I know the theory of the heart, the mind, and soul.
But why is it that without you now, they seem so lost and cold.
